William (Bill) Russell Johnston, Sr.

In Loving Memory of William “Bill” Russell Johnston, Sr. William “Bill” Russell Johnston, Sr., 82 of Pearisburg, VA., passed away at his home Monday, January 18, 2010.  Mr. Johnston was born on October 18, 1927 in Eggleston, Va., and was a son of the late Clyde Strother Johnston and Clara Dorena Martin.  Bill was an Army Veteran of WWII, a graduate of Virginia Tech and a proud Hokie, a member of the Angels Rest Baptist Fellowship in Pearisburg and retired as plant manager at A.P. Green Lime Plant in Kimbleton, VA. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, June Ratcliffe Johnston of Pearisburg, one daughter, Teresa Lynn Johnston Miller and husband Mac of Roanoke, VA., two sons, William Russell “W.R.” Johnston, Jr., and wife Donna Carole of Pearisburg, Dr. Roy Neil Johnston of Atlanta, GA., three grandchildren, William Russell Johnston, III and wife Brenda, Specialist Andrew Nash Miller, Hannah Miller Aschliman and husband Kurt and two sisters, Mary Johnston Austin and husband Albert “Bunk” of Radford and Barbara Johnston Cardwell of Lenoir City, TN; one brother-in-law, D.M. Flanagan of Abingdon and special family friend, Shirley Clark of Abingdon.   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Angels Rest Baptist Fellowship Church in Pearisburg with the Rev.
