On Wednesday, April 24th, Terri Stables Dickerson, 66 of Narrows, was carried on the wings of angels to rest in the arms of her Savior. She was met by her husband, Gary Dickerson, parents, Alfred and Helen Stables and brother David Stables.
Left to carry on her legacy are her daughters: Amanda Snidow and Jessica (Greg) Parsell, both of Pearisburg. One brother: Scott (Michelle) Stables of Narrows. Sisters: Sherry (Gary) Fisher of Ashburn, Teresia (Walt) Kerr of Hagerstown, MD, Karen (Dallas) Staples of Charleston, WV, and Donna (Doug) Davis of Pembroke. Her grandchildren: Bria, Ally, Seth, Keaton, Julian, Christopher and Michael Snidow; Zachary (Abby) Parsell and Caitlyn (Kory) Semones. Great grandchildren: Macy Grace, Kohen and Amelia. She also leaves so many nieces and nephews, who loved coming to her home on the creek for the 4th of July picnics. Terri was blessed during the last years of her life by the presence of a special friend and care giver Ginger “Gingie” Ferguson.
There are no words to describe how many people she touched in her adventures in life. She always had a crock pot full of food for all those who ventured into the dispatch office where she last worked. She was so very talented at so many things. Each one of her grandchildren received a hand-made quilt themed especially for them. Her cakes and cupcakes dressed many tables for special occasions. She took every opportunity with her grandchildren to make decorative dishes for special occasions, found fishing on the creek side, designing and creating works of art, and taking them for rides on the tractor and 4-wheeler but they especially loved the scooter rides. She dressed in their team colors, pompoms in hand, and was often found on the sidelines cheering for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In between all the grandchildren’s shenanigans, she could be found fostering special needs “fur babies” and being “Nana” to multitudes in the community.
One could not ever finish Terri’s story without highlighting what an Amazing and Loving Mama, Nana, Sister, and Friend she was to everyone who knew her. She was a beacon of light, hope and strength to all who knew her, continuing to make others smile even in her final conversations. She was excited and ready to meet Jesus and shared that openly with others.
Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Rest in His Loving Arms, Sweet Terri.
