Silas Crockett Jones

Silas Crockett Jones, 93, of Pearisburg Virginia, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at his home. Born February 2, 1924 in Giles County, he was the son of the late William E. Jones and Emiline (Lester) Jones. He served in the U.S. Army with the rank of Corporal. He was a faithful member of St. Gerard Catholic Church in Roanoke since 1962. He retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center with 36 years of service. He returned to live in Giles County in 2002 where he enjoyed hunting and gardening. Those left to mourn include JoAnna (Charles) Fuller, Juan Robinson, Brenda (Clifton) Daniels, Linda (Roger) Lambert, Pamella (Theodore) Harris, Archie (Becky) Skates, Maurice (Chrissy) Skates, Tonya Skates, Vickie Skates, Mary Lois Jones, Sandra Woods-Jordan, Ronald Jones, Vera Gore, Joycelyn (David) Mills, Frank Hopkins, Jr., Kenneth (Orange) Hopkins, Maurita Ferguson, Nedra (Melvin) Margerum, Elaine (William) Holmes, Joyce (David) Parks, Douglas (Sharon) Pearson, John Robertson, Jody Robertson, Vincent (Marlene) Robertson, Selena Robertson, Jason (Adriana) Robertson, Betty Harvey, Essie Manns, Betty Burton and Family and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by Anna Lee (Brooks) Jones, wife of 40 years, William and Emiline Jones, Annie Hopkins, Willie Smith, Nanon Curseen, Juanita Pearson, Portia Gray, James Jones, Archie Jones and Virginia Jones. Silas was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to many. Throughout his life, he demonstrated his love of family, his commitment to hard work and devotion to his faith. By example and by deed, he touched many lives. What a precious gift God gave us when He gave us Uncle Si. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11am at St Gerard’s Catholic Church, 809 Orange Ave. NW, Roanoke, VA. The family will receive friends at the church thirty minutes before the service. Interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery in Pearisburg, VA
