Shirley Ann McCroskey Tickle

Shirley Ann McCroskey Tickle, 76 of Ripplemead went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Lewis-Gale Hospital in Salem. Mrs. Tickle was born on June 12, 1937 in Giles County, VA, and was a daughter of the late Penrose and Mary Kathleen Songer McCroskey. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of 49 years, Guy Wilbur Tickle. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Pearisburg. Shirley has always worked in the restaurant industry and for the last 25 years has worked in the family owned Friends and Family Restaurant. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and knew most of Giles County and was a great friend to many. She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca T. (Jimmy) Young of Pearisburg, two sons, Wendell (Crystal) Tickle of Pearisburg, Guy A. Tickle of Pearisburg, eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Danielle, Jessica, Autumn, Matthew, Chance, Preston, Mason and three great grandchildren, three brothers, Walter McCroskey, James McCroskey and Richard McCroskey. Funeral services will be at the Givens Funeral Chapel Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Saturday one hour before the service. A private committal service will be held Monday at 10am at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
