Ruth Mae Long Thompson

Ruth Mae Long Thompson, 86 went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton, VA. Mrs. Thompson was born on February 21, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Conrad Johnson Long and Minnie Leigh Anderson Long. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Eugene Thompson, Jr., three sisters and two brothers. She had retired from Elizabeth Arden in Roanoke and had worked as a clerk for the Salvation Army and was a member of the Salvation Army Church in Roanoke. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Roger Allen and Kay Thompson of Roanoke, one granddaughter, Kim Thompson of Roanoke, one grandson, Gene Thompson and wife Nicki of Roanoke and three great grandchildren, Allie, Daphne and Avery. Funeral services will be conducted, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg at 11:00am with Capt. Kenneth Argot officiating with burial following in the Mountain View Cemetery on Guinea Mountain, Pearisburg, VA. The family will receive friends Tuesday August 20, 2013 evening from 6 – 8 pm at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg.
