Richard Martin Lavinder, Jr.

Richard (Rich) Martin Lavinder, Jr., 43 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2017 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Rich was born on May 25, 1973 and is a son of Richard Martin Lavinder, Sr. and Carol Randleman Lavinder of Pearisburg. Rich attended Giles High School and graduated from Hargrave Military Academy. He completed his B.S. degree from Radford University and was an employee of Corning, Inc. in Blacksburg for 14 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in an M-1 Abrahams tank in South Korea. Rich loved boating, fishing and Virginia Tech Football. Besides his parents, he is survived by his significant other, Jennie Dolbow of Ballard, WV, two sisters, Kimberly L. Dalton and husband Tim of Chester, Tracy L. Songer and husband Raymond of Ripplemead, three nephews, Steffan Frazier, Gunar Frazier, Dustin Meredith and two nieces, Kathryn F. Huff and husband Wade and Brook Lavinder. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00am at the Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 – 7 pm at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg.
