Pauline Hale Shumate

Pauline Hale Shumate, 102 of Roanoke, formerly of Pearisburg went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6, 2013. Mrs. Shumate was born on November 5, 1910 in Giles County and was a daughter of the late John Hale. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Everette Shumate, Jr., and one daughter, Sandra Shumate Owen. Mrs. Shumate was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg for over 80 years and was a member of the DAR of Pearisburg. The date of her passing, January, 6, was the same date as her wedding anniversary and her beloved husband’s birthday. She is survived by one son Anderson E. Shumate, III and wife Juanita of Roanoke, three grandchildren, Anderson E. Shumate, IV and his wife Debbie, Suzanne L. Tovo and her husband Ken, Patricia S. Young and three great grandchildren, Jordan A. Shumate, Michael K. Tovo and Jacob R. Tovo. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 12:00pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 11 – 12 pm.
