Paul Rollins Snider

Paul Rollins Snider of Narrows, Va., 93 passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Riverview Nursing Home, Rich Creek, Va. He was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo and Verna Snider; a brother, Howard Snider and wife Marie; a sister, Marie Hylton; a son, Greg Snider; and a grandson, Travis Ferguson. Paul fought in the Philippines, serving in the United States Army in World War II. He retired from Virginia Tech in the Custodial Department and was fondly known as Poppa Smurf. Paul loved gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and talking with the neighbors sharing gardening tips. Surviving are his wife, Louise Stephens Snider of Narrows, Va.; a son, William Snider, Pearisburg, Va.; a daughter, Trudy Ferguson and husband Ron, Roanoke, Va.; a granddaughter, Karla Ferguson and husband Glenn of Roanoke, Va.; and two great grandsons. A viewing will be held Friday, February 2, at 10 a.m. at Givens Funeral Home, Pearisburg, Va. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. at Givens Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Armstrong, First United Methodist Church, Narrows, Va. officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA.
