Paul Jackson Corell
Paul Jackson (Jack) Corell, 77 of Pearisburg, VA, (Bane Community) went to be with the Lord, Sunday January 26, 2014 at his home. Jack was born on March 2, 1936 in Bane VA and was a son of the late Kezel Paul (Pooney) Corell and Mary Margaret Munsey Corell. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laura C. Fleeman. Jack was a man of numerous talents. He could "fix" anything, and he had many passions. He loved to garden in the summer, and he kept his yard immaculate. Many people would make special trips by his home to see the yard covered in holiday decorations, most of which he made himself. Jack was also a wonderful cook. He loved to bake homemade bread and make candy and take it to the people he loved. His favorite meal to cook was a pot of October beans, which he grew in his garden, and macaroni and cheese was a staple in his home. Jack could also predict the weather with accuracy, depending on the wooly worm or the way smoke would blow out of the chimney. On Saturday nights he loved to go dancing to his favorite country music with his wife Judy, where "flat footin'" was his speciality. He especially loved getting dressed up on Sunday mornings and going to Sunday School and church, and singing the old hymns at the First United Methodist Church, of which he was a life-long member. Most importantly, however, Jack loved his family. He was completely devoted to his wife, with whom he had spent over 61 years, and was so proud of his two children, two granddaughters, and three great grand children, all of whom brought him great joy. He is survived by his wife, Judith Gail Ratcliffe Corell of Pearisburg, one son, Richard Douglas (Rick) and wife Victoria of Salem, one daughter, Jill Corell Grubbs and husband Eddie of Lynchburg, two sisters, Margaret C. Brotherton of Pearisburg, Sarah Ann Troutt and husband Bennie of Flint, MI, two grandchildren, Michelle Corell Stowe and husband Jody, Amber Corell Smith and husband Josh and three great grandchildren, Rhiannon Renee Stowe, Sadie Marguerite Stowe and Gabe Smith, numerous nieces and nephews, special cousin, Billy Munsey and dear family friends, Bobby and Peggy Barnett and Gail Corell. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Brian Birch and Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 pm.
