In Loving Memory of

Myrtle Ingram Gollehon

Myrtle Ingram Gollehon, 90 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 12, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Gollehon was born on May 2, 1922 in Bassett, VA and was a daughter of the late Posey Meshach Ingram and Luna Via Ingram. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Well known for her love of family, Mrs. Gollehon adored her husband, and proudly cherished her children, and granddaughter Christina. Many were inspired by Mrs. Gollehon’s ageless demeanor. She will be remembered for her abundant zest for life, her laughter and her exacting sense of style and fashion. Mrs. Gollehon was an active and devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Throughout the years she supported many causes, but none more passionately than as a volunteer and chaperone for Giles High School Band where she served alongside her husband during his career as band director The Character of the life she lived can be summed up by saying “those who knew her, loved her.” She was a devoted wife, loving mother, tenderhearted grandmother and immensely loyal friend to many, especially Carol Barnhart. She is survived by her Husband of 58 years, Joseph M. Gollehon, Jr. of Pearisburg, one daughter, Genevieve Ann Waite of Albuquerque, NM, one son, Joseph M. (Mac) Gollehon, III of New York, New York and one granddaughter, Christina Waite of Albuquerque, NM. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 1:00pm with Dr. Bryan Burch and Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, VA.
