Matthew Peyton Bradley of Pearisburg, VA passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41, on March 12, 2023. Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Odell and Mary Ratcliffe and James T. Bradley. Matthew loved his mother and looked up to his father. He respected his brothers and adored his children. Monday through Friday, Matthew could be found working at James Hardy in Dublin during the day and standing on a creek bank fishing for trout in the evening. Saturdays were for hunting and a time to relax, while Sundays were for worshiping God at the church he had begun attending. Matthew cherished his friends and didn’t shy away from lending a helping hand when and where it was needed. Matthew loved to joke, make people laugh and wanted everyone in the room to feel welcome. Matthew was a good man who had a tender heart and who will truly be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Matthew proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps where he selflessly participated in three tours of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Matthew was an airframe mechanic for CH-46 helicopter squadron. Matthew is survived by his father, James T. Bradley, mother Diane Bradley and companion Rodney Houchins, children, Paiton and Blake Bradley and their mother, Adrienne Bradley, brothers, Ryan Ratcliffe and James D. Bradley, grandmother, Zellwood Bradley, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and good friend Jared Taylor. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Rhett Butler and Bentley Ratcliffe officiating with burial following in the Racliffe Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home 2hrs before the service from 12 – 2 pm on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend an afternoon fishing, make someone smile or call an old friend. Surround yourself with positive people, people who wish to see you grow and succeed.
