Mary Lee Johnston Tabor

Mary Lee Johnston Tabor, 80 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 24, 2012 in Princeton Community Hospital. Mrs. Tabor was born on May 3, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Fredrick Lee Johnston and India Webb Johnston. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles E. Johnston and one brother-in-law, Billy Aliff. Mrs. Tabor was a graduate of Pembroke High School and attended Radford College. She was a retired surgical nurse at Giles Memorial Hospital for 42 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Narrows and served as a Deaconess, President of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and was a longtime member of the Choir. She was also a member of the Angels Rest Rebekah’s Lodge No. 72. She is survived by her husband of over 53 years, James Houston Tabor of Narrows, one brother, David Burnette Johnston and wife Mary Ellen of Narrows, two sisters, Martha Jane Aliff of Oakhill, WV, Josephine Wingo Blaker of Narrows, one sister-in-law, Ann Johnston of Narrows and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that she thought of as her own. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2:00pm at the First Christian Church in Narrows with the Rev. E.L. Tiller officiating with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm. Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, VA is helping the family with the arrangements.
