Martha Ratcliffe Dunn

Martha Lynn Ratcliffe Dunn, 63 of Pearisburg, VA. went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 22, 2012 at LewisGale Montgomery Hospital in Blacksburg. Mrs. Dunn was born on November 24, 1948 in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Lacy Len and Hazel Davis Ratcliffe. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Vivian, Harvey and Jerry Ratcliffe and five sisters, Dorothy Slusher, Polly Clyburn, Fannie Meredith, Lena Fay and Patty Ratcliffe. Martha Lynn was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She worked for 30 years in the Giles County School System as a Teacher’s Assistant in Special Education. She is survived by her husband, Spencer Arnett “Sonny” Dunn, Jr., of Pearisburg, one daughter, Stacey Lynn Wilson and fiancée Tony Harmond of Christiansburg, one son, Jason Arnett Dunn of Wilmington, NC, two beloved grandchildren, Heath Emory and Natalie Spencer Wilson, three brothers, Lacy, Johnny and Steve Ratcliffe of Pearisburg, two sisters, Mary Jane Bartley and Betty Eads of Pearisburg, one “Grand Dog Stanley,” many nieces and nephews and three special friends, Barbara St. Leger, Carol Spangler and Dale Ryder. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg with Dr. Brad Scott and Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Ratcliffe Family Cemetery in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Saturday evening from 5 – 8 pm. Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Bereavement Fund in Pearisburg or to a charity of your choice.
