Margaret Corell Brotherton
Margaret Corell Brotherton, 82 of Pearisburg, Va. passed away Saturday evening, January 17, 2015 in High Point, NC. Mrs. Brotherton was born on November 20, 1932 in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Kezel Paul (K.P.) Corell and Mary Margaret Munsey Corell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Franklin Brotherton, one son John Michael Brotherton, one brother, Jack Corell and one sister, Laura Fleeman. Mrs. Brotherton received her masters degree in education from Radford Collage and was a retired school teacher and elementary school principal in the Giles County School System with over 30 years service, she then worked for H & R Block for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and her and her husband were both avid Virginia Tech Fans. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Jana Van Hemert Bortherton, Jr. of High Point, NC, two grandchildren, Curtis James Brotherton and Rachel Lynn Brotherton. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday January 21, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Dr. Brian Birch and the Rev. Dr. Fred L. Austin officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Tuesday evening from 5 7 pm.
