Larry Everette Burnett

Larry Everette Burnett, 65 of Narrows, VA, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday August 17, 2013. He was raised in Sandstone, WV. He recently had become reacquainted with the lord. He resided in Narrows, Virginia with his wife and soul mate Joann Merix Burnett. You rarely saw one without the other. He routinely handed out treats to “Bowzer” at the back door and enjoyed dog sitting with “Puggy” his canine grand dog. He was preceded in death by father, James Burnett and two brothers Robert (Robbie) and Jimmy Burnett . He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was retired from the US Army and had been recognized for the following metals. Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Metal. He is survived by his mother Willa Mae Burnett of Forest Hill, WV, and wife Jo Ann Burnett and son Brandon and wife Darlene Burnett of PA, daughter Tasha Burnett of AL, daughter Stephanie and husband Lynn Carroll of Salem and son Shaun and wife Cherie Merix of Narrows and son Mike and wife Crystal Wilson of Ripplemead. He is also survived by sisters Donna Sue and husband June Wolfe, Floretta and husband Terri Bruce and Connie Burnett . Grandchildren , Gage and Brandi Burnett, Savannah Wilson, Chandra and husband Travis Flight, Candace Merix, Michael Lee, Ryan, and Ciji and Kip Good, and four great grandchildren. Brother in law Freddie and wife Lisa Merix of Ripplemead. Also he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to Dr. Brankenrich and staff, Dr. White, Dr. Killeen, Dr. Forrest and all the staff at the CCC Unit at Roanoke Memorial. Dr. Goldschmit, attending Doctors at Carilion Giles Community and all their staff for the enduring care and attention given . He was surrounded and loved by his neighbors Charles and Lois Clark, Keith and June Mullins, and Alvin Crotty. We would like to give a special thank you to Beulah Radford for the wonderful cakes, to Jackie Altice of Salem for the many cards to keep lifting his spirits and for all the prayers by friends and neighbors. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20 at 11:30 am at the Southwest Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia. Bishop Vernon Landreth will be conducting the services along with full Military Honors. Funeral services are being provided by Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, Virginia.
