Josephine Wingo Johnston Blaker

Josephine Wingo Johnston Blaker, 75 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Blaker was born on May 2, 1941 in Pembroke, VA and was a daughter of the late Fredrick Lee Johnston and India Webb Johnston. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lee Johnston Tabor, one brother, Charles E. Johnston and one brother-in-law, Billy Aliff. Mrs. Blaker was a graduate of the Narrows High School class of 1959, a former employee of the FBI, a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows, and a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows. For nineteen years, Mrs. Blaker coached youth basketball teams in the Narrows community and was an avid supporter of the Narrows High School Green Waves. She dearly loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, India B. Haun and husband Dr. John W. (Billy) Haun of Charlottesville, one son, Lee Theron Blaker and wife Tina C. Blaker of Narrows, one sister, Martha Jane J. Aliff of Oak Hill, WV, one brother, David Burnette Johnston and wife Mary Ellen of Narrows, one sister-in-law, Ann Johnston of Narrows, one brother-in-law, James H. Tabor of Narrows. She is also survived by six grandchildren, India Brooke Haun, Brittany Haun McElheny, Cole Theron Blaker, Chad Lee Blaker, Chase Everette Blaker, Cristin Michelle Blaker, one great granddaughter, Carter Okalani McElheny, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 2:00pm at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows with Pastor Jim McDaniel officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 pm. Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg, VA is helping the family with the arrangements.
