John Dennis Kennedy

John Dennis Kennedy, 80 of Pearisburg, VA, passed away on July 20, 2013 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Dennis was born in Pulaski on September 22, 1932 and was the son of the late John Joseph and Stella Young Kennedy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a treasured granddaughter Christie Michelle Kennedy Wilson. He moved to Giles Co. when he was seven years old and graduated from Giles High School in 1951. He was a 1955 graduate from VA Tech, served in the United Stated Air Force for two years and retired from Georgia Pacific on July 10th, 1990 and moved back to Pearisburg. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jayne Johnston Kennedy, two daughters, Nancy Carol Kennedy Higgins of Nederland, TX, Mary Katherine Kennedy Glover and husband David of London, Eng., two sons, John David Kennedy and wife Nadine of Big Island, VA, Richard Dennis Kennedy and partner Mark Nayden of Brooklyn, NY, three grandchildren, Jake, Ce Ce and Ethan of London, Eng., one brother James Michael Kennedy of Summerville, SC, one sister, Judith K Rotenberry and husband Thomas of Vinton, VA and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11:00am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Dr. Fred L.
