Janice "Peggy" Evelyn Davis Hollar

Janice Evelyn “Peggy” Hollar, 87 of Pearisburg, VA., formerly of Norton, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2025. Peggy was born on May 19, 1937, in Wilburn Valley, VA., and was a daughter of the late Edward Thomas Davis and Clara Frances Cooper Davis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William Sellers Hollars, two sons, Toby E. and Todd W. Hollar and one brother, Edward Cadell Davis.

Peggy was a graduate, basketball player and cheerleader for the Pearisburg High School (Red Devils). She was a past employee at the Piggly Wiggly grocery store warehouse in Norton, VA, and retired as a medical transcriptionist at the Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Giles County Chamber of Commerce, the Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg and helped with fundraising for the construction of the town of Pearisburg swimming pool. She was involved in the Pearisburg Jr. Women’s Club, the Pearisburg Woman’s Club, the DeMolay Mother’s Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution of Giles County. 

She is survived by one son, Timothy Marvyn Hollar of Pearisburg, one granddaughter, one sister, Anna Mae Davis Croy of Christiansburg and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 7, 2025, at 2pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Clay Holt officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Givens Funeral Home from 6 – 8pm.
