James Edward Thompson, Sr.

James Edward Thompson, Sr., 91 of Pearisburg , VA passed away Saturday evening, December 24, 2016 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA. Mr. Thompson was born on April 5, 1925 in Tazewell Co., VA and was a son of the late Frank Conrad Thompson and Mable Thompson Thompson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Mae Dailey Thompson, one son, James Edward Thompson, Jr., five sisters, Betty Joe Thompson (infant), Billie Jacobs, Bonnie Matthews, Jackie Fox, Nancy Rivera and two brothers, Robert Thompson and Patrick Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a Pearisburg High School Red Devil, a WWII Navy Veteran, Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class and was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He is survived by, one daughter, Carol T. Reynolds and husband Richard, Sr. of Bowie , MD, and one grandson, Richard Michael (Ricky) Reynolds, Jr. and his wife Brittney Michelle of Essex, MD, two brothers, Paul Thompson and Fred Thompson, and many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Patricia Jacobs. Graveside memorial funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 2:00pm Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows, American Legion Post #311in Pembroke and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows.
