James Edward Shelor

James Edward Shelor, 83, of Ripplemead, VA, passed away Monday, March 10th, 2014 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA following a recurrence of cancer. He was known as James where he was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pearisburg. He was known as Ed or Edward to his family and his co-workers at Celanese, where he retired after 35 years of service. Ed was born on July 7th, 1930 in Willis, VA. Like his brothers, Ed favored Ford products, and liked to watch them run in NASCAR races. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Waitman Thomas Shelor and Demarius Keith Shelor of Willis, brothers Joseph Shelor of Dublin, Lawrence (Ray) Shelor of Christiansburg, and sister Oneita Weeks. Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Conner Shelor of Ripplemead, two, sons Dennis Shelor and Dale Shelor of Ripplemead, one brother John Shelor and wife Thelma of Radford, sister-in-law Eula Shelor of Dublin, sister-in-law Velvie Shelor of Christiansburg and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14th, 2014 at 2:00pm at Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg, VA. with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, VA. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday, March 13th, 2014 at Givens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests either a donation to Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad, P.O.
