Harriett Elizabeth Eaton Powell

Harriett Elizabeth Eaton Powell, 92 of Rural Hall, NC, formerly of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2017 at Oak Forest Rehab in Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. Powell was born on January 23, 1925 in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late John Shepherd Eaton and Mae Johnston Eaton. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis C. Powell, five brothers, Kenneth, Dick, Wes, Tom, Edward (Pete) Eaton and two sisters, Fauna Mae Fuller and Virginia Lou Hunt. Mrs. Powell was a former employee of the Celanese Corp in Narrows and a former manager of the Truck Stop in Narrows. Mrs. Powell loved watching pro football games, gardening and loved the company of her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dewaline L. & John C. Healy of Rockville, MD, one granddaughter, Sonya E. Healy of Rockville, four brothers, Doug and JoAnn Eaton of Pearisburg, Don Eaton of Pearisburg, Jimmy and Bonnie Eaton of Pearisburg, Mickey Burke and Marie Eaton of Keymar, MD, two sisters, Mary E. Martin of Kennersville, NC, Ann E. Fletcher of Pearisburg and many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Birchlawn Abby in Pearisburg at 1:00pm with Charles Henderson officiating. There will be private family viewing at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg Wednesday from 12:00 to 12:30pm before the service. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
