In Loving Memory of Harold Johnson JOHNSON, HAROLD, 70 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord, Monday evening, January 5, 2009 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  Harold was born on January 27, 1938 in Ballard, WV and was a son of the late Theodore Roosevelt Johnson and Elva Mae Gore Johnson.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Johnson and Paul Thomas Johnson.  Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg where he served faithfully on the Trustee Ministry, the Kitchen Ministry and the Van Ministry.  He was a former employee of the Radford Arsenal, The Celanese Plant in Narrows and the Volvo Truck Plant in Dublin.  Harold also enjoyed fishing with his friend and pastor Rev. Michael Bratton and loved his family and grandchildren very much. Harold or “Pops”, as he was affectionately known, was loved by all in the community.  He is survived by his wife Brenda Dickerson Johnson of Pearisburg, his mother-in-law, Glenna C. Dickerson of Pearisburg, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Allan L. and Leslie of High Point, NC, Jason E. (J.J.) Johnson of Pearisburg, three grandchildren, Dimitri A. Johnson, Whitney S. Johnson and Jasmyne K. Johnson, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Billie and Jung Johnson of Burlington, NJ, Theodore R. and Minnie Johnson of Ballard, WV, three sisters, Alice and Jacob Simms of Notasulga, AL, Mabel Johnson of Hempstead, NY, Dreama and Ralph Beauford of Roanoke, a sister-in-law, Barbara A. Johnson of Pearisburg, and a host of other family and friends.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg at 2:00pm with the Rev. Michael Bratton officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.  The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church Friday from 6 – 8 pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church, 152 Ballard St. Pearisburg, VA. 24134 in memory of Harold Johnson.
