Garfield Bales

Garfield Bales, 81 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Mr. Bales was born on November 29, 1929 in Giles County, Va, and was a son of the late William Harrison Bales and Lenora Blankenship Bales. Mr. Bales was a retired rigger at the Radford Arsenal in Radford, VA. He gave all his love to his family and enjoyed his gardening and going to Flea Markets. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Estelle Collins Bales of Pearisburg, one son, Richard Bales of Pearisburg, one daughter, Linda Peck and her husband Jim of Pembroke, two sisters, Ida Laymon of New Castle, Marie Journell of Pearisburg, four grandchildren, Tracy Stafford, Beth Osborne, Susan Adkins, Billie Huskey and 4 great grandchildren, Ciara Meredith, Jack Meredith, Hunter Adkins and Ali Adkins. The family will receive friends Friday evening, May 6, 2011 at the Givens Funeral Chapel from 6 – 7:30 pm with funeral services starting at 7:30 pm with Pastor Debbie Hutton officiating.
