Evelyn Kathleen Dutton Pierce

Evelyn Kathleen Dutton Pierce, 97 of Pearisburg, VA died Monday, June 25, 2018 at Kroontje Health Care Center, Blacksburg. Mrs Pierce was born on March 3, 1921 in Groseclose, VA and was a daughter of the late Marion Jackson Dutton and Virgie Snavely Dutton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wilson Pierce, brother Guy Dutton and sister, Frances D. Clark. Evelyn and her husband Fred both worked at the Virginian Leader newspaper in Pearisburg where they both retired. They were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Pearisburg for many years. Evelyn and her husband were former members of the Giles Country Club in Pearisburg. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Pierce Baker (Don) of Banner Elk, NC, one son, Gregory D. Pierce (Gillian) of New Orleans, LA, five grandchildren, Nicole Baker Crain (Bruce), Rick Baker (Angel), Jayne Pierce Fedell, Sarah Pierce Blosch (Edwin), Jeremy Pierce and eight great grand grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one brother, Jack Dutton (Nadine) of Groseclose. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1pm at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with Pastor Bill King officiating. Memorials may be made to Kroontje Health Care Center, 1000 Litton Lane, Blacksburg, VA 24060. Givens Funeral Home of Pearisburg is in charge of arrangements.
