DIANE ONEY BALLARD, 74 of Pearisburg, VA. passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at her lifelong home after a long fought illness. Diane was born in Pearisburg on February 3, 1942. She was a 1959 Pearisburg High School Red Devil graduate. She attended Virginia Tech and New River Community College over the years . She spent the majority of her career at Virginia Tech where she was a bookkeeper and administrative assistant. She was proud of her accomplishments while at Virginia Tech and always deemed herself a Hokie. Diane was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Carolyn (Carrie) Farley Oney. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmett Jessee (Jack) Ballard. Diane leaves behind her son Thomas Wynn and wife Sylvia, oldest daughter Carolyn Ballard and son Connor Ballard Rader, and youngest daughter Virginia Ballard and daughter Maddie (Anne Marie) Ballard all of Pearisburg, along with grandchildren Marsha Wynn and fiancé William Smith, Britney Carroll and husband Joey Carroll, great-grandchildren Hailey Broadwell, Logan Steele, Kira Smith, and Braxton Carroll. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 1pm at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Charles Henderson officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
