David Darmon Stewart

David Darmon Stewart, 57 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning October 5, 2011 after losing his battle with cancer. David was born on May 27, 1954 in Pearisburg and was a son of Mitchell Darmon Stewart and the late Ruth McCormick Stewart. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Lee Stewart. David was a millwright employed by the Celanese Corp. in Narrows and owned and operated Stewart’s Plumbing for over 20 years. He was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead and he loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family. Besides his father, his fishing buddy, he is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Alice F. Stewart of Pearisburg, two sons, Brent F. Stewart of Blacksburg, Nicholas M. Stewart of Charlotte, N.C., two step sons, Anthony Crotty and wife Stephanie of Christiansburg, Scott Crotty and wife Jodi of Kernersville, NC., one sister, Deborah Parcell and husband Tony of Narrows, two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crotty and Caleb Crotty, two sisters-in-law, June Weismer, Garnette Stewart, one niece, Emily Parcell and three nephews, Adrian and Chris Parcell, Chris Davis and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 7, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Riverview Baptist Church from 6 – 8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Giles County Relay for Life. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
