Charles Clifford Van Hemert
Charles Clifford Van Hemert, 82 of Pearisburg, VA, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 5, 2011 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Mr. Van Hemert was born on December 18, 1928 in Olney, Tx, and was a son of the late Lyndred and Sarah Malissa Young. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Willena Joyce Nichols. Mr. Van Hemert was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg and formerly a counselor of the UMYF. He is survived by his wife Betty Ann Thompson Van Hemert of Pearisburg, one daughter, Jana Lynn V. Brotherton and her husband James of High Point, NC, two sons, John L. Van Hemert and his wife Iva Jean of Pearisburg, Charles Clifford Van Hemert, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Columbus, OH, two brothers, Franklin Austin Van Hemert, Lyndred Edward Van Hemert, four sisters, Rose Etta Sutton, Sarah Jane Drennan, Violet Bernice Vincent, Nancy Ruth Jowers and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 12, 2011 at 10:00am at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Brad Scott officiating with burial following in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Givens Funeral Home from 6 8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1101 Valleyview Dr., Pearisburg, Va. 24134.
