Brenda Sue Dickerson Johnson

Brenda Sue Dickerson Johnson, 75 of Pearisburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Brenda was born on October 3, 1948, in Pearisburg, VA and was a daughter of the late Robert Lyle Dickerson, Sr. and Glenna Mae Chapman Dickerson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Johnson, two sisters: Nancy D. Hutchinson and her husband David and Linda Gale D. Geter and her husband Sabra.

Brenda grew up and spent her whole life in Pearisburg. She was a retired employee of the Celanese Corp. in Narrows with over 30 years of service. She was a lifelong, loyal, dedicated and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg serving in many capacities. She was a member of the Spirits of Joy choir, secretary of finance, usher ministry, and chair of the pastor’s aid ministry. She adored her sons and grandchildren. She also loved her pastor, church family and many friends. She was known in her family as the “QVC” Queen and enjoyed watching game shows and the Young and the Restless. 

She is survived by two sons: Allan L Johnson (Leslie) of High Point, NC, and Jason E. “J.J.” Johnson of Pearisburg (Sara Davis), three grandchildren: Dimitri A. Johnson, Whitney S. Johnson, and Jasmyne K. Johnson, one brother; Robert Lyle Dickerson, Jr. (Kay) of Pearisburg, special sister, Barbara Johnson of Pearisburg, goddaughter Roberta D. Taft, and a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the First Baptist Church in Pearisburg at 1pm with the Rev. Michael Bratton and the Rev. David Chapman officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church two hours before the service from 11 – 1 pm.
