Barbara Alpha Songer

 Barbara Alpha Butler Songer, 90 of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Heritage Hall Rich Creek Nursing Home. Barbara was born on February 19, 1934, in Pearisburg and was a daughter of the late Charles Lee Butler and Eloise Powell Butler. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford McKinley Songer, 2 brothers, William Butler, John Butler, and 2 sisters, Pauline Pfaff, Josephine Songer.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Giles County, VA. She was a hard worker all her life. She had previously worked at the Taste Freeze in Pearisburg and retired from the dietary dept of Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was also caretaker for various members of her family. 

She is survived by a daughter, Donna Songer Bostock of Pembroke, son, Cliff Songer (Whitney) of Pearisburg, step-daughter, Patricia McDaniel of Dublin, 4 grandchildren, Sarah Bostock (Stephen), Shilah Scarry (Michael), Andrew Songer (Sidney), Jaden Songer and 2 great grandchildren, Ireland Scarry and Thomas Scarry.

There will be a private family graveside funeral service on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 2pm at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg.
