Alice Holdren Harman
Alice Holdren Harman, 83, of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Mrs. Harman was born in Athens, WV and was a daughter of the late Samuel Lacey Holdren and Elsie Josephine Vaught Holdren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Alice spent her youth in Athens, WV. She graduated from Athens High School and attended Concord College. At an early age, she met the love of her life, Bill Harman. They raised two wonderful daughters in Narrows, VA. She was a dedicated homemaker and worked at Celanese for thirty years. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and attending antique auctions. She reveled her time with her grandchildren and ensured that they were all proficient in playing Solitaire. Mrs. Harman is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Edward (Bill) Harman, Jr. of Narrows, two daughters, Margaret Ann Harman of Narrows, Nan Harman Robillard (Dr. Bruce Robillard) of Danville, three grandchildren, Mary Alice Cox (Brian), Lucy Ann McGee (Chris), John Willis Muncy, III and six great grandchildren, Leah McGee, C.P. McGee, Levi McGee, Hannah Cox, Brian Cox, and Thomas Cox. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Chris McGee officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Chapel one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bible Baptist Church, 1161 Cluster Springs Rd., South Boston, VA 24592.
